Clay Cup

Postby John Olinger on June 3rd, 2007, 11:50 pm

The first photo is a clay cup I purchased recently on E-bay. I found it completely by accident. It was advertised as a Romano-British clay cup.

The second photo is from book called "Early Briton" by Jacquetta Hawkes (1945) that I bought about a week later.

Talk about confirmation!

Found another one! Oh, and Jeff, while they are Roman, they are Romano-British and I'm doing mid second century. So they work out great for me :-D

I'm guessing the second one is new? They all look great! I like the combination of Roman relief surface treatment with the Celtic design.

Hey John, I think it's a great looking cup! Now that I'm doing more pottery I'm developing a new appreciation of Romanized styles.
