WIP LIA Irish sword

WIP LIA Irish sword

Postby B Stark on February 26th, 2010, 8:36 pm

This is a work in progress shot, there's still some fitting and finish to go before it is finally mounted. It's been awhile since I've actually done anything like this but it has been a good experience so far. I've always wanted to do some insular Iron age swords and have finally started on one. Here's a not all that good of a pic:

I doubt I'll go the route of a metal covered scabbard IF I do one at all. Likley a wood core with leather and gutter chaping in steel sheet.

18.5" OAL
12" Blade
approx. 14 oz in weight

I'm hoping to do another blade like this with perhaps a bit different hilt components. I'd like to encorporate a companulate guard and perhaps some spacers in the grip. We'll see though.
