Looking to buy a Fibula or brooch

Postby Butch Saddler on March 2nd, 2010, 1:30 pm

Hello all! I am currently looking for in the Iron Age market a suitable looking fibula/bow brooch matching the area of 1st century BC/AD. Our event is quickly approaching (3rd weekend in march) and my girlfriend is getting her kit together as we speak (I'm making her shoes right now), and it would be nice to accentuate her cloak or what have you with a nice looking bronze or iron fibula. Is there any out there that have access to one they are willing to sell? PM me with any offers with pics possibly, maybe the size dimensions etc or style of it!

THanks!

I'm suggesting a link to this store rather than a specific product. I've ordered from him before and the workmanship is outstanding. And how can anyone beat a great price? He sells LaTene fibulas, but some of his Roman hinged type could be acceptable for an AD43 Briton, just not any silver ones.

Stay away from the penannular/omega brooches! Blah! Pennanular brooches are for peasants who fight with rakes and shovels. Besides being extremely rare, Iron Age penannular brooches did not have a straight pin.

Thanks for the link! It's nice to find something stateside, and Etsy lets you easily contact the seller to request custom work.

Well I'm late but it might help someone else: http://www.archeoart.org/

It's in French but it's wonderful work and the person doing those works as/with (not sure) archeologists so it's all 100% historical (for mainland europe and La Tène period)
